diversity, inclusion and anti-racism policy

As a business owner I want to ensure that any space I occupy, work from or promote is diverse, inclusive, and amplifies BIPOC, Asian, LGBTQIA and differently abled voices. Thistle and Whey is a safe, open and supportive space for people who suffer from the systemically racist structures and white supremacy in Australia and the world. There is zero tolerance in any Thistle and Whey communities or spaces for hate speech, micro-aggressions, or any language or behaviour that ostracises and others.

communities and workshops

Part of my mission with Thistle and Whey is to build community, both online and through workshops and gatherings. These communities and real-world gatherings are safe welcoming spaces and will never censor BIPOC, Asian, LGBTQIA or differently abled  voices. Anyone censoring, promoting hate speech or othering will be immediately removed and blocked from all Thistle and Whey spaces and events.

collaborations and brand campaigns

I will never collaborate on, promote or take part in an event or brand campaign that is not diverse, inclusive and welcoming to all.
I will not work with other businesses who do not also promote inclusion and amplification of BIPOC, Asian, LGBTQIA and differently abled voices.
I will always suggest more diverse people for them to approach instead.

amplification throughout thistle and whey

I commit to using my channels- blog, Instagram, workshops and gatherings to actively amplify BIPOC, Asian, LGBTQIA and differently abled voices, and to share the work of a diverse range of people. For every white creative invited to feature on my blog, I commit to inviting a BIPOC, Asian, LGBTQIA or differently abled creative also, so I can ensure everyone will be able to read about people who look and sound like them. I will also promote the businesses and work of a diverse range of people on my instagram and in my monthly newsletters, as well as sharing the work of anti-racism teachers and resources, and sharing places and ways for people to donate to and support racial justice issues. I commit to collaborating with a diverse range of creatives for future workshops and gatherings, and to ensure that any choices I make regarding teachers I invite to host a workshop are inclusive of BIPOC, Asian, LGBTQIA and differently abled voices, as well as white voices.

financial support

I endeavour to create a financial structure within Thistle and Whey that builds regular, ongoing donations to organisations and groups into the business.
I will update this policy once this becomes something I am financially able to do.
